A teacher,
in his own words.

A site for Tom Ashton, a music teacher and film and TV composer in Thames Ditton, written to sound like him and built to be found by people nearby who are looking for lessons.

The work behind the website

Built around the lessons.

Every instrument Tom teaches has its own page: piano lessons, guitar lessons, bass guitar lessons, ukulele lessons, mandolin lessons and music theory lessons. There’s also a page for where Tom teaches in Thames Ditton, so a student or a parent can see quickly whether he’s the right teacher for them.

Real rooms, real instruments.

Wherever we have them, Tom’s own photographs replace stock images: the room he teaches in, and Tom with his instruments. The site picks the best available copy of each picture automatically, so a better original improves every page it appears on.

Help between lessons.

Students get the same free practice tools Tom uses himself, including a free online tuner, a metronome and printable manuscript paper, plus a growing library of guides on everything from how to read sheet music to Grade 5 music theory. And for producers, there’s a page on his music for film and TV.

Local, and easy to find.

Structured data describes Tom and his teaching to search engines, the pages are light and quick on a phone, and new pages are announced to search engines as soon as they go live.

Small business, real care.

A focused service website works the same way as a large one: understand who it’s for and what they need to know, then say it clearly.
